My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.

I adore you with profound reverence. I beg your pardon for my sins and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful.

My Immaculate Mother, St. Joseph, my Father and Lord, my guardian angel, intercede for me.

Today we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, which is a feast that is repeated, we could say, in the church.

The church celebrates the feast of the Eucharist on Holy Thursday.

But since it's such a great mystery, the church is basically saying we need to have

seconds. It's just like when the ice cream is really good, you say, I want some more. I want, I want to taste that again. I want to mull that over again. And so the church has

seconds, so to speak, on this feast day, because even if it has seconds, it actually won't

exhaust contemplating the beautiful gift of the Eucharist that the church carries within and preserves

for as long as the church will exist here on earth, which is till the end of time.

In St. John's Gospel, we have a beautiful treatise on the Eucharist in John chapter 6.

St. John, as you know, does not report the words of consecration or the institution of the Holy Eucharist as the synoptics do or as the letter to the Corinthians, the first letter, does in Chapter 11.

But St. John does have these words which are beyond question a clear statement of the faith of the church of what we hold to be true.

And that is that in the Eucharist, our Lord's body, blood, soul, and divinity become present.

And so he says these words.

I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate manna in the desert and have died.

This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that if anyone eat of it, he will not die. I am the living bread that has come down from heaven so that if anyone eat of it he will not die I am the living bread that

has come down from heaven if anyone eat of this bread he shall live forever and the

bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world

Jesus said to them amen amen I say to, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you shall have no life within you.

He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life everlasting, and I will raise him up on the last day, for my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
