As we said last week, the pandemic is far from over in the US, but there is hope.

More than half of all adults in the United States have gotten at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

And the rate of new infections is currently falling in most of the country.

But the picture isn't so rosy in the rest of the world.

Globally we're averaging roughly 800,000 new cases and more than 10,000 new deaths every day,

with hot spots emerging throughout Europe, South America and especially India.

Since this all began more than 3 million people have died from COVID-19.
