This Labor Day weekend we have a three part interview with Roger Ferguson, President and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA, the leading provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical, and cultural fields and a Fortune 100 financial services organization. Mr. Ferguson is the former Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve System. He represented the Federal Reserve on several international policy groups and served on key Federal Reserve System committees, including Payment System Oversight, Reserve Bank Operations, and Supervision and Regulation. As the only Governor in Washington, D.C. on 9/11, he led the Fed’s initial response to the terrorist attacks, taking actions that kept the U.S. financial system functioning while reassuring the global financial community that the U.S. economy would not be paralyzed. 0:41.0	How did you get involved with this organization?
0:42.9	So I got involved in the organization and we've now sort of shortened the name just a TIA.
0:49.1	An executive recruiter called me.
0:51.0	I was working for another financial services firm. TIA was looking for a new CEO.
0:57.0	Importantly they because we believe in diversity and inclusion the search committee
1:02.1	one of the broad diverse
1:03.2	slate with some new names that they hadn't thought of and this executive
1:06.7	recruiter found my name gave me a call and I asked would you be interested and I
1:11.6	was very interested because I happened to have known
1:15.0	the company through a good friend of mine. I had a friend in college who was the
1:21.4	daughter of one of the iconic coes of TIA.
1:25.0	Wow. That person's the iconic CEO was a guy named Bill Greeno.
1:30.0	He created Kref, College Retirement Equity Fund.
1:33.0	That's still an important part of who we are, what we stand for.
