As of Monday, there have been almost 7.8 million cases of COVID-19 reported in the US since the pandemic started,

with at least 214,000 deaths.

About a fifth of all the deaths around the world have occurred here in the United States.

For the past seven months, restaurants and businesses around the country have scraped by barely,

with outdoor dining and shopping.

But soon cold weather will force almost all of us inside and will have to deal with the difficult question.

Is it possible to be in a closed space with others and still be safe?

One idea that people are touting is a possible savior for indoor dining and shopping is ultraviolet light,

using invisible radiation to destroy the coronavirus.

It sounds almost too good to be true.
