Summary

How has Latin America dealt with the pandemic? The lockdown, the needs of the economy, cash pay-outs to the poor, culture, tradition and safety in a time of crisis are all discussed with an expert panel and questions from the public across the region. Latin America is a panel of experts and listeners waiting to discuss coronavirus. The virus which began in Wuhan in China

has spread across the world and while signs of recovery are beginning to emerge in parts of Asia and Europe. Central and South America are now

at the center of the pandemic. Brazil has suffered the most with more than 38,000 deaths. Mexico, Peru and Chile are the other worst hit

countries in the region with numbers of new infections and deaths rising daily. The Brazilian president, the populist Jayar Bolsonaro, has come

under fire for his handling of the pandemic. We will be hearing from Brazilians about that later

and will be trying to unpick what exactly has

fuelled the crisis there. Elsewhere in this vast region countries like Argentina

have managed to cope rather better with an estimated 700 deaths so far.
