Summary

In this Episode (179) of Leupold's Hunt Talk Radio, two attorneys bring their legal expertise to the discussion of private and public property rights where properties adjoin or intersect.  Tom Stonecipher and Nick Vandenbos have been researching this topic and share their findings, along with an explanation of how law is not static and application of law is dependent upon facts and circumstance, responding to the practicality of the situation.  A Wyoming court case is ongoing that addresses this topic in both a criminal and civil context.  Lots to think about here.  Enjoy! Hey folks, Randy Noberg here with another episode of Lootful Ponce Dock of Radio.

0:37.0

This is episode number 179. And more importantly, this is part two of the corner crossing series that we're doing.

0:50.0

That I know for sure is eventually going to have three episodes and depending on the feedback and everything else,

0:57.0

we might end up with four episodes. Today, we get into the real details of this.

1:04.0

With me are attorneys Tom Stonecipher and Nick Van Enbaus, Tom Nick and their firm have done a lot of property law work for me and my CPA clients.

1:16.0

And they're also very well versed in this because quite a few months ago, I hired them to help me start looking into this issue.

1:28.0

And the issue I'm talking about is when public and private property rights intersect as they do with corner crossing or adjacent boundaries between neighbors where it's public and private.

1:43.0

So I've been working with them for quite a while on this and the project that I told them I hadn't mind was a series of podcasts.

1:53.0

But also to help me better understand the evolving status of law and how law is not static. It's moving and changing.

2:04.0

And so we're going to get into the details of that in this podcast. Now in the prior episode number 178 that we published last week,

2:15.0

you're going to find in that podcast an entire background of what brought us to this discussion.

2:22.0

How we got here, what is corner crossing, how this even happened that the land ownership pattern ended up in this way.

2:35.0

The details of this Wyoming case that you're going to hear us refer quite often to a Wyoming case that is popped up.

2:44.0

I didn't know that case was going to come when I started this project, but it's out there. And it's a really good example of the topics and the issues.

2:56.0

And if you want to call it nuances of law that you're going to hear Tom and Nick talk about.

3:04.0

So you're going to hear us talk about a lot of things that were covered in the previous podcast. So I'd strongly suggest that you go and listen to episode 178, which is called corner crossing part one.

3:19.0

It's a shorter podcast than this one because this one I suspect looking at the outline and script is going to be pretty long.

3:27.0

But I think that prior podcast will give you a lot of benefit to prepare you for a lot of the topics, the ideas, and the context in which I've approached this and the context in which I've asked Tom and Nick to approach this.

3:42.0

So with that, I'm going to do a few sponsor notes and we will get into the details of the intersection of private and public property rights, kind of like what we see when the topic of corner crossing comes up.

3:59.0
