Hello, thank you so much for joining me today for Give Him 15.

And the title of today's post is, coping with delay.

In 1 Samuel 16, verses 12 and 13, David was anointed to be king over Israel.

And Jesse sent and brought him in, now he was ruddy with and with all,

withal of a beautiful countenance, goodly to look to. And the Lord said, arise, anoint him,

for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of the brethren,

and the spirit of the Lord came at him in the midst of the brethren, and the Spirit

of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.

So Samuel rose went to Rama.

Most scholars believe David was somewhere between 10 to 15 years of age, 10 to 15 years of age when this occurred. However, it was over 20 years

before Samuel's prophecy was fulfilled in 2nd Samuel 5, verses 1 through 5. I'll speed through this.

All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron,

spoke saying, behold, will your bone and flesh? When Saul was king over us, you led us to battle.

And the Lord said, you will feed my people Israel. You'll be captain over Israel. So all the

elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron.

King David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.

David was 30 years old when he began to reign, and he rained 40 years. 30 when he began to rain,

rained 40 years. In Hebron, he reigned 40 years. 30 when he began to rain, rained 40 years. In Hebron, he reigned over

Judah, seven years and six months. And in Jerusalem, he reigned 33 years over all Israel and

Judah. According to these verses, David was 30 years old when he became king.

However, the first seven years of his reign, David was king over only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, commonly referred to simply as Judah. Saul's son, Ishbosheth, ruled over the
