Summary

Welcome to the Corporate Casket, a weekly series where bad businesses go to die. Cops weren’t always portrayed as the good guys in movies, tv, and the news. Back before 1910, they were usually shown as “incompetent fools”. But, that’s when police organizations stepped in and shaped how the media could portray law enforcement with threats, blackmail, and bribes. By 1950, the LAPD had control of the scripts for one infamous cop show, and thus: Copaganda was born. Today, it’s everywhere you look and it's impacting more than you would ever guess. 0:00.0	officials in Minneapolis hoping for calm tonight after a former police officer was charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd as firefighters cooled the flames from another night of unrest and destruction.
0:13.0	In 2020, the United States saw one of the most massive protests take place on our nation's

0:18.7	The George Floyd protests that summer came with an endless wave of opinions.
0:23.4	Some felt that they were a signifier of hope,
0:25.6	that maybe there could be some progress happening.
0:28.3	Companies at least tried to pretend as if they cared
0:30.6	about racial inequality, even though we can assume that they most definitely do not.
0:35.3	Meanwhile, others saw the protests as outrageous and examples of anti-cop rhetoric,
0:40.0	chock full of unneeded violence, uproar's, and property damage.
0:44.0	One of the reasons for this overwhelmingly negative view was the news.
0:47.8	During the summer, they almost exclusively reported on the violence of the protests, even though an overwhelming 97% of cases were peaceful.
0:56.0	You have everyone here. All eyes are on us. Now is our chance to show the world peace, but let's make it official.

1:06.0	But something else lending itself to the immediate outrage was a strong sense of support for police officers.
