What's up everybody we got a special sick awesome episode today's kind of a mashup with our great friend Dr. Joseph boot say hello Mr.

Boot. Hey John great to be with you. Thanks for having me on the show again. Oh man, I'm so thrilled you know I guess something I gotta talk to you about.

All right, Texas you I said hey, is there any way you can come on the show so I can grill you I gotta drill down on this stuff.

So thrilled that you guys said yeah, we'll do it. So this is gonna be a mashup. I thought we would call this boot stuff if you want to.

Good theme song you know what I'm saying. Anyway, thanks for joining me. Let's jump straight into this. I got a ton of questions. Here's how it started.

All right, within Christianity right now there's this section of Christianity that's saying all right what we need to do in the earth right now there's all this chaos and stuff you know whether you're talking about COVID racial equity climate justice all the words justice.

There's a section of Christianity that's saying hey, we need to join together with all these you know worldly things right I call that the Christian left low Christianity progressive Christianity whatever this they're basically like let's be socialist for Jesus.

We're taking them off. We're not talking about them today. They're not in the question.

But there's two different kinds of categories of Christians that I consider to be people who love God. They love the word of God orthodox serious about the Bible and they very much disagree with people like you boot and people like me and they would say things like this they would say Joe.

You know, when you say that it's not right for the government to force people to take the jab for instance, all right like mandates and stuff like that. Joseph you come on to say that's not right for the government to do that.

They would say to you actually Joe you're the one that's not being very Christian. You're not being very Christ like you're not supposed to be going against the government you're supposed to be honoring the king turn the other cheek honoring the emperor whatever we want to call it.

A lot of Christians like this right now they love God and I respect them. I think they mean really well.

But I need you to come into my show so I can dig down to this with you.

And I'd like to just as you ate a ton of questions, but I think we need to start with some definitions because in my mind, I think this is due to a couple of things like Christian piotism, Christian pacifism.

Okay, do you agree with those labels and then be if you do, can you give us a brief definition of what those words mean so we can get started.

Well, it's it's a it's a complicated landscape that you're describing and you're right that there is these sort of two very different types of group.

You said you're in one the one hand you've dismissed one group the sort of the the woke crowd that frankly don't really take scripture seriously.

And from our from our perspective, we shouldn't be shouldn't be too concerned to get tied up with those kind of things when people aren't actually on the same page about the about the word of God and the inspiration and authority of scripture.

At least, I mean from an apologetics point of view, we can of course, but from a, you know, what is the Christian perspective standpoint, there are genuine believers.

I've had a very different take on on the last few years and about the role of government and about the role of Christians within society and the question of what our relationship to the state is what the state's responsibilities are what they aren't and then what degree of resistance Christians are allowed to exercise in any number of different situations from mandates about vaccines or the locking down of the state.

Right through to self defense, I mean obviously I'm and I'm sure that it's been something that you're asked about frequently the issue of gun control.

And how do we handle what takes the the the fallout of mass shootings and these sort of things and so you you do have Christians who are wrestling with these issues in a way that perhaps they haven't been forced to wrestle with them before and I think that is part of the problem, John, is that the last couple of years especially.
