He's in his early 30s, tall and thin,

with a small mustache, big smile,

and an extraordinary story to tell.

Jeddie is also our way in to our main story, a project in southern Italy that's changing the way people are thinking about food, farming, the power of

land and how, with some clever ideas, they can change lives and transform economies for the better, even when things appear hopeless, as they did for Jeddie.

We're talking on the outskirts of the city of Benavinto, southern Italy and on what's described as a social farm.

We're surrounded by polytunnels filled with salad leaves ready to pick and

tomatoes still in the process of ripening. There's also a cafe which serves food and

drink and this is where jedi is about to start work.
