Oliver Anthony’s viral hit “Rich Men North of Richmond” has become an unquestionable culture moment. Some have even gone further, calling it a right wing “culture war” song. Christianity Today published an article claiming that the song “doesn’t love its neighbors”— a point that I roundly disagree with. Today, I explain what I believe the song is about, and why, In my view, Christianity Today has not only missed the entire point of the song, but they are revealing yet again that they believe the true evil in society isn’t coming from the atheistic, secular, sexual, and socialistic revolution. Oh no! The true destruction of society that must be called out is anything that promotes traditional Christianity or conservative ideas.
