This July 4th, there was a rise of anti-American sentiment, even within churches who are considered mainstream. It begs the question, is it more pious to refuse to celebrate July 4th—or even to criticize the country—because of love for the kingdom of God? Does America’s sin of slavery make the principles of the Declaration of Independence and our nation’s founding illegitimate? Is it racially insensitive to celebrate July 4th, as many Christian leaders are starting to insinuate? 1:11.0	And now we're here to talk about July 4th, so look, I'm going to admit, I'm biased,
1:16.0	I love July 4th because I love the country, I'm into America, I get it.
1:21.0	I'm going to try to be as gracious as I can on this episode, I'm going to try to meet some people where they're at
1:27.0	because there is a strain of anti-Americanism coming through evangelical Christianity in a way that it just has it in my lifetime.
1:38.0	Now this has been the last, I say, five, six years, it's been ramping up, and it's ramping up even more now to where churches that used to be just sort of,
1:47.0	I'm not even trying to say they're like super duper like Team America, they used to be like, well yeah, of course we don't hate the country or something.
1:56.0	It is starting to seem maybe to them a little more pious, the word pious means a little more, maybe they're loving God and showing more devotion to God more by not celebrating America.
2:09.0	Sort of like, we're not about America or about the Kingdom of God, true by the way.
