Are you ready? I'm waiting anxiously for what happens next. Here's what's going on. School is back in session, meaning probably most kids aren't happy, but the good news is they'll get some new stuff in the process.

Yeah, that's always the best part of back to school is like some of the back to school shopping. Like Rock, when you were a kid, did you love like going and getting pens and notebooks and stuff?

I loved it. And I wanted all the Lisa Frank stuff. You know, those like neon colored animal prints stuff. It had like dolphins and cats.

I wanted a trapper keeper. So bad. We can never afford that. So I always got like the knockoff that like fill apart in a week.

Well, it's not like you were going to use it anyway.

You know, that was a thing. I was always hopeful on day one. Like I'm like, you know what? I'm going to get notebooks this year and I'm going to get pens and I'm going to do really, really well.

Yeah, this is going to be it. This is it for me. And then like a day until I'm like, I don't like this.

Well, parents may be eager to get their kids out of the house, but it's going to cost them $498.

That's the average a parent will spend on back to school stuff this year. So the top things that made this list include sports equipment.

Okay, that makes sense. Yeah. So expensive books. Yeah, college books are ridiculous, but even in high school, you have to buy extra stuff for your kids now.

Yeah. And also you mentioned school supplies. We're talking about pens, paper, pencils, backpacks.

Backpacks are one of those things that are really expensive. Like if you buy a good backpack, a lot of times it's like 70 bucks.

Yeah, or more. Yeah, and you kind of need it because I mean, they're going to go through a lot. So you don't want to cheap on that like your traffic.

Well, it's crazy too. Like when you're going back to school, a lot of places do the tax-free weekend.

Oh, that's right.

You know, right before school and you can take advantage of that. And obviously you need to, especially like if you live in a place with a high sales tax, it can save you a substantial amount of money.

I know I bought a couch this year on tax-free weekend.

You did? I did. I bought a couch and I got tax-free. They got me. I'm like, yes.

Save me that 10 percent. Bring it. I'll pretend it's for school. We're fine.
