About Myths, Baby, and I'm your host, Liv. Now, I don't want to raise any of my guests

above the others because that seems unfair. But also, I have been looking forward to this

new translation of Ovid for over a year now and I am actually buzzing with excitement,

just like the true dork that I am. So, today I spoke with Stephanie McCarter, whose new translation

of Ovid's Metamorphoses is available in North America and oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Is it not

only good, generally, obviously? But it's the first translation by a woman in over 60 years.

And so it's seriously wonderfully refreshing and necessary. It's almost like we don't

need to insert gender-specific slurs into translations where they don't belong. Weird, right?
