We're back this week with another conversation episode, and this time it's a little different because we're talking with

Lee Moore of the Chinese Literature Podcast. Yes, Chinese literature and generally actually

Chinese history in this one, which is not something we ever discussed because it is far outside

of our realm of expertise and what we present to the show. However, this was very interesting to us,

and so we wanted to bring it to you all. See, Lee came to us and told us about an event that

where the ancient Chinese possibly met the ancient Greeks in the second century BCE.

And that was way too interesting.

So we had to pick it up and hear about it.

So that's what this episode is about.

It also just generally derails into talking about empire and colonization and stuff about China generally

and studying antiquities and, you know, all those things. I was a little off my rocker while

recording this episode. I was having a bad ADHD day, so I apologize in advance for all my cackling.

China's backstory, the history, Beijing doesn't want you to read. It's about the four China-related topics popping up in the news feeds of a lot of folks in America, Canada, the broader West, Taiwan, Xinjiang, the Chinese economy, and I do it in a very, a way that's meant to be friendly to the average reader.

So like people who don't normally pick up a book about China will pick it up.

I have a section, a chapter in the Taiwan section called the most important motherfucker in Taiwanese history.

And it's about a 1670 sex scandal that changed the history of Taiwan.
