I'm not going to bury the lead this time, everybody, which is normally what I like to do.

0:02.9

But this time, we have a guest.

0:06.2

And our guest is David Horowitz.

0:07.5

He is the author of Medic, a Diary.

0:09.5

You've probably seen the advertisement on our Instagram and on our Facebook.

And it is a wonderful, wonderful book that really describes David's path from EMT into being a paramedic, and it has all the things that you

0:23.8

weren't adequately warned about in school. You know, like the number of naked people you pick up

0:27.6

off the floor. Police is the police department's affinity for Narcan usage, you know, like those

0:33.9

kind of things. Anyway, it's an absolutely wonderful book. David, thank you so much for coming on the show. How are you doing? I'm doing great. Thank you for having me. Yeah, I'm a listener of your show, really been enjoying it. So to be a guest is really outstanding. Yeah, well, so then you know it's a good book. 1:12.3

You know, like it's, uh, yeah, it's ridiculous.

1:16.1

It's like there's a factory somewhere cranking out podcast hosts that just look the same.

1:20.2

I do want to say, uh, in regards to your book, I think what you have done so well is you have captured the, you know, it's like the, there's a heartfeltness

1:31.0

as well as those moments of levity and the balance is just, it's perfect. And it, you know,

1:37.6

it really, I think, captures, in essence, a lot of the experience that I had as a as a paramedic where it's like,

1:45.4

you go on these calls and there, there's some calls like, they're just kind of funny,

1:50.1

inherently funny, you know, like the setting or, you know, what the situation is.

1:55.4

It's like, yeah, this is a, this is an odd one.

1:58.2

And then there are those other moments where you kind of, a little after the fact, you're like, yeah, that one's kind of sad.

2:05.3

And it's really that yin and yang of the whole job that I think is just captured so well in your book.
