I'd like to welcome everybody to today's presentation on mindfulness and acceptance of

behaviors using contextual cognitive behavioral therapy.

I am your host, Dr. Donnelly Snipes.

We're going to define and review the

concepts of contextual CBT and explore the impact of context on people's phenomenological reality.

What may be scary in one situation may not be scary in another. What may be an appropriate

reaction in one situation may not be an appropriate

reaction in another. And we really want to look at that not only, you know, for our own

behaviors, but also for children as well as our staff. If you supervise staff, in what way

does context influence their behaviors.

We will, and we'll talk later, explore how addiction and mental health issues can be influenced by context and explore how acceptance, awareness, mindfulness, and psychological

flexibility can be used transdiagnostically.

These are tools.

Once we understand how a person is perceiving that situation in that context,

their phenomenological reality, their construction of reality,

then we can use a variety of different tools to help them make choices that are going to be more
