two-part series on alien abdocctions, I had no idea how much it was going to relate

to the satanic ritual abuse panic that ran from the 1970s all the way through the 1990s.

I didn't know that the majority of people who were abducted by aliens only remembered

details of the event while under hypnosis in repressed memory therapy. They're similar

enough that we're calling these stories satanic ritual abuse in space. By the 1990s, tens

of thousands of Americans said that they could remember seeing a mysterious light then

being pinned in place by an unseen force, with humanoid creatures of some kind lurking

in the shadows. People then recall fantastical stories of teleporting through walls, floating

into the sky, only to find themselves surrounded by aliens in bright medical rooms being

poked and prodded, and yes, probed. Or so they remembered once they found the right hypnotherapist

who was ready and willing to open their mind to new possibilities.

Repressed memory hypnotherapy was said to be a path to healing, unexplained emotional

mental and physical issues that Sigmund Freud believed to be due to forgotten childhood
