Today, talks continue in Rome to try to form a new government, Italy's third in three years.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte resigned,

predicting he would no longer have a majority in Parliament.

As for what's next, it's unclear, even by Italian standards.

Mr. Conte might just return as Prime Minister of the same fractious coalition, or a different one,

or there could be a snap election.

The crisis comes at a crucial time, not just for Italy, but also for Europe, as it plans for
