Consumers are growing optimistic about inflation.

I'm Novosafo with Marketplace Minute.

The University of Michigan's monthly survey finds consumers now expect inflation a year from

now to be at 3.1 percent. That's the lowest expectation in more than two years.

Inflation is currently at 3.7 percent.

Consumer expectations are important because they can influence prices.

Members of the United Auto Workers Union are on strike against GM, Ford, and Stellantis.

The initial walkout is limited to three Midwestern plants.

The union says the strike could grow depending on how long contract negotiations drag on.

The alliance that represents film, TV, and streaming companies says it will resume

negotiations next week with striking Hollywood writers. No talks planned with the actors union,

which is also on strike. Apple will update software in iPhone 12 models after French regulators

banned sales of the older phones. They claim the devices emit excessive electromagnetic radiation.
