Summary

Episode 346 features an interview with astrologer Marcos Patchett about using consultation charts as a diagnostic and prognostic tool in medical astrology. A consultation chart is an astrological chart that is cast for the moment that a meeting between an astrologer and client begins. The premise is that the consultation chart will describe both the situation that the client has come to talk about, as well as its potential outcome. During the course of the episode we discuss how in the context of medical astrology consultation charts can be used as an additional tool for diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction. Along the way we also talk about horary astrology, decumbiture charts, and the nature of divination. Marcos specializes in western herbal medicine and medical astrology, with an emphasis on horary in particular: Nocturnalherbalist.com This episode is available in both audio and video versions below. like the Olivia Barclay School of the qualifying horary practitioner course, right?

0:51.1

Yes, although I'm kind of self partly self-tooled. I started off this sort of modern astrology

0:57.9

with the LSA London School of Astrology, who are great, and I began with them,

1:03.4

and then I sort of got interested in traditional astrology, sort of around 2005, 2006.

1:10.8

I really got into horary first, really through reading John for Alley's books, which,

1:15.4

you know, they're great, very controversial figure, John for Alley, but a brilliant astrologer.

1:19.9

And so, I sort of became, I went into traditional astrology really just sort of self-taught

1:26.9

for a while, and that was just a number of different factors like the school that the class times

1:34.4

weren't really, I couldn't really do the classes because I was working and whatever. So,

1:39.6

but yeah, so I'm mostly sort of like partly, so officially school taught with my beginning in

1:44.4

modern astrology, and then the traditional astrology sort of self-taught, really.

1:48.8

Cool. And that you were able to combine that in some ways, also with your interest and focus

1:54.3

on herbalism. Yes, exactly. And that was the major incentive for me actually learning astrology

2:01.5

in the first place, because I was doing a degree in Western herbal medicine at Middlesex
