It's been a gloomy week at the White House with President Obama trying to fight off scandals

from three different quarters.

He's taking flack after the revelation that the Federal Tax Agency has been improperly

targeting opposition groups. There have been awkward questions about has been

awkward questions about the attack in Libya in which a US ambassador was

killed and about the government seizure of some journalist's phone

records.

Mark Bardell tells us that while the White House

tries to move on from this parade of political headaches, the conspiracy theorists

are making the most of it. America, Land of the free, home of the slightly afraid, is the very birthing ground of

conspiracy theories.

Suspicions that an overweening government is out to baffle, bully and

bamboozle hover overhead like the black helicopters

which in urban myth are ever ready to crush American liberty.
