Whether you're a California gardener like Jacques or myself or just someone who's looking

Specifically if you're here in Cali, every single city besides our city here in San Diego

is under some sort of water restriction, I believe, for example in Los Angeles, you can

only water your yard once a week for some specified amount of time.

Yeah, so fortunately San Diego has not been hit with that yet.

We have a little bit more secure of a water supply, but that doesn't mean we should just

be wasting water.

So Jacques and I have been riffing on some different ideas to help you conserve and really just get

more out of the water you're applying to your garden.

So why don't you kick it off with one of your tips, Jacques?

I mean, the easiest one that everyone should be doing regardless of where they live is

by is applying mulch.

And when I say apply mulch, usually I think a lot of people just spread a thin layer on

But if you really want to save water and keep that soil cool, you really need to go one

So at that point, you're creating this total buffer area where the water can evaporate,

it's just going to hit the mulch and drip back down into your soil.
