My name is Dr. Marissa Tejas and I am the co-founder as well as the executive director of the Crocodile Research Coalition. We are a non-profit, a wildlife and

scientific nonprofit based in Southern Belize. And our focus is crocodiles. But we take a more

holistic approach when it comes to conservation. So not only do we focus on crocodiles, we do just

focus on anything else that is in crocodilian habitat.

Because as we know, everything has a connection to each other.

So we study manatee, jaguars, snakes, stingrays, you name it.

If it's in crocodileing habitat, we want to know about it.

But of course, our focus are the crocodiles.

I'm in Southern Belize. So the Placencia Peninsula. Also, we have the lovely Placencia Lagoon. So we are on the coast in Southern Belize. So it's great because it does feel like a little bit of an island. And given the situation where we're at, we have both species of crocodilians here in Belize just around the Placentia Lagoon.
