Today, I wanted to give you guys a listen to part of my show The Search. It's a long-form

0:03.9

conversation series exclusively on Daily Wire Plus. In this episode, I sit down with Vivek

0:08.3

Ramoswami, a New York Times bestselling author and entrepreneur in the biotech industry,

0:12.0

where he's founded several companies. We talk about a bunch of fascinating topics,

0:16.1

including the role of tech companies in society, how free markets actually work, why so

0:20.2

many people these days seem to be opposed to free markets? And what are the limitations of the free market system? In this episode of the search, we got into a variety of those topics. That included the differences between the populist right and the libertarian right. Plus, we discuss if Facebook is responsible for its own impact on the health of young women, if liberty is an ideal or just utilitarian, and more.

0:37.8

Let's jump right in.

0:39.2

Again, I have a lot of sympathy for the free market position, but the truth is that once you

1:01.7

1:06.3

have a free market, you have a co-opted market.

1:08.6

That's exactly right. And this is why I no longer call myself a libertarian.

1:12.3

Not because I don't think the fundamental premises are necessarily correct as a first

1:15.9

principle, but the market cannot fix what it is not free to fix, actually.

1:21.6

And so what I'm against is I'm not opposed.

1:25.5

I don't consider myself an anti-libertarian, conservative in any sense of the word,

1:29.9

but I'm anti-loiterarian with, with blinders to the state action that's actually lurking behind the scene,

1:38.1

with a complete refusal to engage with correcting the effect of that state action,

1:44.0

but while pretending like the status quo is actually the clean, clean, starting place and the clean whiteboard that the libertarian vision holds in store. So what I say is, yes, if you have lurking state action behind the scene, it's the invisible, not the invisible hand of the market, but the invisible fist of government that is guiding the behavior of private actors, be they
