Recently, in an interview with 60 Minutes, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez floated the idea of a 70% top income rate on people who make more than $10 million per year.

And immediately, the political debate erupted. People on the right said that tax rate is way too high and you're going to encourage the wealthy to go and invest in other countries.

The left said, it's only for people who make more than $10 million, it's tiny, this is absurd.

And there is some nuance to this debate. I don't think Cortez was actually saying this what she wants. She floated the idea.

So it should be debated. But there's something bigger at play here. It seems like for some reason, Ocasio-Cortez is the poster child for the Democrats.

She is the most important Democrat. She has more followers than Nancy Pelosi does and her career just started.

I have to wonder why people take what she says so seriously when she's just a congresswoman who just started her career.

In my opinion, she is the most important Democrat with many people on both the left and the right saying she represents the future of the Democrats.

I believe there is a good possibility. She is on a path towards the presidency, but hear me out.

Based on the press, and I don't want to say obsession, but the constant conversation about her.

All it's doing is making her more and more famous. So today, let's take a look at what's going on with this tax rate,

idea that people are debating, and I want to talk about how the press is impacting her career and how it's going to benefit her in the long run.

Ocasio Cortez said in the interview, you know, you look at her tax rates back in the 60s.

And when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, you know, let's say from 0 to 75,000, maybe 10% or 15% etc.

But once you get to like the tippy tops on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70%.

That doesn't mean all 10 million dollars are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you come up this ladder, you should be contributing more.

I think that it only has ever been radicals that have changed this country. Abraham Lincoln made the radical decision to sign the Emancipation Proclamation.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt made the radical decision to embark on establishing programs like Social Security. That is radical.
