chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation, and

author of the Virtue of Nationalism.

Earlier this week, he published an essay in Quilette called The Triumph of Marxism, which

has been getting a lot of attention.

Do you want to briefly summarize your essay for us and tell us what sort of reaction you've had to it so far?

Well, the reason I wrote the essay was to try to put some perspective on the events of

this summer, of summer 2020, I think many millions of people share a feeling that particularly in the United

States this summer, this summer, something something something something

extraordinary and very big has happened and I wanted to try to to create some clarity which requires making some propositions about the political

theory of what's going on and then to project where it's all going.

There's a lot in the article, but the main argument is that the movement that is being called

progressive or woke or black lives matter or critical race theory.

It goes by many other names that that movement is in fact an updated version of Marxism. I know that many people throw that
