Today is December 3rd, the Feast of St. Francis Xavier.

We're going to take a little side track from the

sermon on the mount because we must focus on this great saint,

one of the greatest missionaries in the history of Christianity,

and he has much to teach us today.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Francis Xavier was born in the Castle of Xavier, Spain in 1506.

He studied in Paris where he met Saint. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits.

St. Francis Xavier, St Peter Faber, James Lanes, Alfonso Salmaran, and Nicholas Bobadilla, along with Simon Rodriguez, developed a deep friendship with one another.

These seven friends, with Ignatius, at the head, became the company of Jesus,

otherwise known as the Jesuits, and they became some of the greatest missionaries

and educators in the history of the world.
