Luke chapter 7, verses 12 through 15.

As he drew near to the gate of the town,

behold, a man who had died was being carried out,

the only son of his mother,

and she was a widow,

and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. And when the Lord saw her,

he had compassion on her and said to her, do not weep. Then he came up and touched the beer,

and the bearers stood still. And he said, young man, I say to you, arise, and the dead man sat up and began to speak,

and Jesus gave him to his mother. What an appropriate text to read and pray according to, even in my own life today, as I prepare

to preach a celebration of life for Mr. Lussie. I mentioned Mr. Lussie a couple of weeks back

on a podcast from Psalm chapter 14 145 and the quick story was i didn't even know

when i was talking about this man who taught me in sunday school and just served so faithfully

in the church i was a part of growing up and and not just me, so many lives. He has impacted in so many

different ways, just literally countless people. But I didn't even realize he was nearing

specifically the end of his days. And the Lord just brought in mind when I was praying through

Psalm 145 about the blessing of those whose God is the Lord and that podcast episode came out and

a couple of hours later God had brought Mr. Lussie home with him.

And I had the opportunity, the privileged honor of speaking today and his celebration of life.

So to open my Bible reading and to come to Luke 7 and to see this passage, whenever Jesus showed up at funerals, things didn't last very long

because people came back from the dead. This dead man sits up and starts to speak, and everyone

glorifies God. And I read Luke 7, and I just want remind all of us today, for all who are in Jesus,
