Hello there. So I thought I would start off this podcast with a brief introduction of myself.

and why is she telling me all the stuff about love, happiness, and success?

So just a little bit about my background before we get started on the topic today's show.

So, you know, I am a therapist. I am also a marriage counselor and I'm a life coach.

I decided to start pursuing a career in mental health and wellness and

emotional well-being, really in 2001. And I first got a master's degree in counseling, and I specialized

in couples and family therapy at that time. After I graduated from my university,

the University of Colorado, in case anybody cares, I went into private practice in the Denver area

and specialized really primarily in couples counseling. But then I decided that I loved my

career so much and I just wanted to learn everything that it made sense for me

to go back to school. And so at that point, I went back to school to a PhD program in counseling

psychology. And there I was trained as a psychologist. So I'm learning a little bit more about

couples and family, but really diving deeply into individual

issues of what makes people tick, what helps people, a lot of research into what helps people.

So where counseling, you know, my master's degree was kind of a warm, fuzzy experience about,

you know, feelings and self-actualization in my PhD program. I really learned

a lot about the scientific basis for a lot of the common problems that people struggle with,

but also really effective forms of treatment for how to help people get better, because talking

is not enough. So that's the second part of my background.
