An exciting week for Michigan Athletics.

They will host their first competition when Michigan takes on Minnesota this Saturday.

A lot of obstacles to overcome.

A lot of new things that have to happen while trying to deal with the pandemic.

So let's go straight to the top and talk to the director of athletics.

Here's your host, John Chanson. Well, as we promised, the Donald R. Shepherd, director of athletics, Ward Manuel, has joined us today. And Ward, thanks for joining us. How are things amongst the athletic campus today looking ahead at the weekend that we're going to look at on Saturday with Michigan football kicking off?

Well, John, you know, it's a lot of excitement as we continue to move towards playing our first competition this year in any sport.

And obviously in the sport of football has a lot of impact not only here on campus,

but throughout the country and all of our fans around the world.

So there's a lot of excitement.

There's a lot of moving parts still that we're working through every day as we progress

and as Jim gets the team ready to hit the field on Saturday night to 24th against Minnesota.

Well, this may be a hard question, but an easy question at the same time.

The hard part is, I'm going to ask you to remove your director of athletics hat and put on your

former player hat.

Do you still get excited at the kickoff of the season as a former player to see Michigan

take the field?
