This is ridiculous, Jade, pacing around the room.

"'Where did she go? How is this helping us?'

Jade had no idea how long it had been since the scientist had left, but it had to be at least two hours.

In the meantime, Jade had been stuck in this room alone.

There was nothing for her to do except wait and worry.

She ran her hands through her hair.

It felt dirty.

The last time she had freshened up was back at the cabin by the border.

She should have taken the opportunity to wash up at the hospital,

but she had other things to do there.

The memory of the short, passionate night with Michelle only made her feel more restless and frustrated.
