Houston, Sheila Jackson lead to the Houston Chronicle editorial board.

Crimes not that bad in Houston. Telling them, quote, I can see on the horizon the attempt to make crime

such a mountain of fear in the minds and hearts of Houstonians that the quality of life issues

that are so necessary may have a challenge. Houston editorial board declares that fear over violent

crime is all ginned up and that it has, quote, often failed to mesh with reality. They say in the

last election, fear mongering over crime led to baseless claims that misdemeanor bail reform

was driving the crime wave. The editorial board says the crime wave wasn't a big deal because

it was also going on across the country. So it was really no different in Houston.

They say Lena Hidalgo's initiatives of quote, better lighting in public places such as trails

and freeing up police officers time by sending social workers to respond to mental distress calls

are leading to a drop in crime which they say is backed by evidence.

Quote, congresswoman Sheila Jackson lead told us she still hears concerns about crime from constituents

and watching the news when she's in DC she feels for the victims and I come home and feel the pain

in Houston. She says so crime is really overblown says Sheila Jacksonley and when all you're worried

about is the fact that your sister was murdered your mama was raped your home was broken into

and everything was stolen. You got car jacked at the grocery store then you're not even paying

attention to the bike trails that Sheila Jackson Lee would like to put through the third ward

and how could you because you're being distracted you're being distracted by things that really

aren't that important. You're being distracted by things that the media is telling you is important

but they're not important just tell one crime victim that just one you know

isn't it interesting how the democrats can gin up so much interest so much concern

...
