He is the only black Republican in the U.S. House, representing Texas' 23rd district that spans San Antonio to El Paso. In his three terms, he has broken from his party by supporting universal background checks for gun sales and the LGBT Equality Act, as well as opposing Trump's border wall. Rep. Hurd served as an undercover officer in the CIA in the Middle East and South Asia for nearly a decade. 1:06.5	west of san an eight hundred miles of border with mexico so it's rural, it's suburban. It is one of the
1:12.4	hardest districts to win in the country for a Republican. You've got to punch way above your
1:17.1	weight to do it, and Will's done it three times. Now, before that, he was the CIA officer in the
1:21.9	Condescent Services side, which includes the undercover stuff, and spent 10 years there, nine years

1:27.6	and then went on to form and start up and be part of a cybersecurity firm.
