Students at U.S. college campuses across the country are facing severe repression,

but one would never know it from the U.S. Congress, which tries to promote the myth that the student

activists supporting Palestinian freedom are in fact advocating a genocide for Jewish people.

We need a new system. We need a new system.

We need a new society.

We need to demand that which may have sounded impossible

even a few weeks ago,

but is not only realizable,

but an imperative necessity.

I'm not host, Brian Becker. Today we're talking with Dr. Nasia Kazi.

Dr. Kazi is a professor of anthropology. She's the author of the book, Islamophobia, race, and global politics.

Thanks so much for having me, Brian.

We are witnessing a profound sea change in public opinion in the United States. Millions of people, literally millions of people have been in the streets, calling for a ceasefire

in support of the people of Gaza, calling for an end to apartheid, an end to occupation.

But U.S. congressional hearings have made it seem

as if the big issue in the country was the attack launched by advocates of Palestinian freedom

against Jewish students, the Jewish community, going so far as to promote the myth that these activists are promoting a genocide against Jewish people.

Then there was the spectacle of university presidents doing so badly. I want to talk to you about

why they did so badly in congressional hearings. And again, as we're speaking, Congress is preparing

to pass a resolution condemning those university presidents.

The same ones who have helped, their administrations have helped carry out a maligning of pro-Palestinian activists.
