This is the movement of the Holy Family.

Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

It's called to mind all those we've promised to pray for,

especially the healing of Olivia and Margot through the intercession of blessed

Pauline Jericho. Today we meditate on the sacrament of confirmation.

So we've been saying that in the liturgy and the sacraments, the Holy Spirit makes the saving

events from the life of Jesus present so that what took place in him can take place in us.

And the Catechism teaches that confirmation makes present the descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus at his baptism, so that

we might share in his anointing by the spirit. We see this in Luke chapter 3 and 4 that Jesus

was anointed by the Holy Spirit at his baptism. Immediately he's led by the Spirit into the wilderness to

resist the temptations of the devil and from there he's led by the spirit into Galilee where he courageously proclaims the

kingdom of God in all their villages and then he went on willingly to take up his cross and lay down his life for us.

This was all by the power of the Holy Spirit and this strengthening of the Holy Spirit is precisely what takes place in the Holy Spirit. And this strengthening of the Holy Spirit is precisely what takes place

in us at confirmation. Confirmation, we participate in the anointing of Jesus with the strength and power of the Holy Spirit.

So by the sacrament of confirmation,

we are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit to resist temptation to share more completely in the

mission of Jesus Christ, to spread and defend our faith by word and deed, and to take up our own cross and follow him all the days of our life.
