Hamdulillah tonight is one of the

most special nights for me in the last couple of years.

There's a particular man that I have personally known

and I met him a few years ago before he became

one of the most recognizable faces in America

and I love him for the sake of Allah

and I truly do.

And so I say that before I even read his bio

and I think that by the end of the session you will love him as well.

Dr. Yusuf Salam was just 15 years old when his life was upended

after being wrongfully convicted with four other boys

in the Central Park Jagger case.

In 2002 after the young men spent years of their lives

behind bars their sentences were overturned.

Now known as the Exonerated 5,

their story has been documented in the award winning film

the Central Park 5 and of course the series

when they see us.

Over the past two decades Yusuf has become a family man

a father, a poet and activist and an inspiration
