Ben Johnson will be the new Gofer Men's basketball coach replacing Richard Petino. And as you wrote in the Star Tribune on Wednesday, it's very obvious that there is one

key reason for this, keeping all of that home state talent here for the first time.

Yeah, I was shocked.

I got to be honest with you.

I thought for sure that they would get a sitting head coach right now because I know there are coaches out here,

out there with ties to the state that would want the job and did want the job.

And I think they probably talked to those coaches, whether it's Craig Smith or Nico Medved or Dutcher.

You know, the Muslim thing I thought was, you know, good fodder realistically.

I didn't think they were going to be able to forward it.

And I'm not sure he's seeing where Arkansas is now, I'm not sure he's going to leave there.

He's got a good thing going.

Porter Moser probably priced him out of the, you know, with what he's done.

He's probably looking at a Indiana job or market and going to make a lot of money.

But so I, but I thought one of those second tier coaches, Craig Smith, you know, or Nico,

I thought they would, that's where they would fall or land.

The thing we don't know is, well, I think we do know, that this department is hurting for finances right now.
