We're in 1 Peter and Lord willing will complete chapter 4 today.

Our text will be verses 12 through 19 to the end of the chapter.

So we're just going to get right to it if you don't mind.

If you're able, I'll ask you to stand.

If not, where you're seated is just fine. Picking it up in verse 12, the Apostle Peter writes,

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial or fiery trial, as some of your translations render it,

that you are suffering as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice,

verse 13, that you participate in the sufferings of Christ so that you may be overjoyed when his glory

is revealed. If you are insulted, verse 14, because of the name of Christ, you are blessed.

But here's why, for the spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, verse 15,

it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal or even as a meddler.

for judgment to begin with the family of God. And if it begins with us, what will the outcome

the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? So then, verse 19.
