Summary

Auburn Tigers fans brace for a season defined by uncertainty in the trenches—will the revamped offensive line and emerging pass rush deliver when it matters most? Zac Blackerby and Darrell Dapprich offer sharp analysis of Auburn’s biggest roster concerns, from questions around Jared Smith’s development at edge and the creative deployment of playmakers like Demarcus Riddick to ignite the pass rush. The conversation spotlights the offensive line overhaul, debating whether depth and transfer portal additions like Jo Simmons and Stanton Ramil can quickly form a cohesive, high-performing unit under a new scheme. The hosts also weigh in on backup quarterback intrigue, the promise of Auburn’s young, unproven receivers, and the logistics of a crowded running back room.

And yes, there's guys that will still be added, whether it'll be in time for spring or not or after spring, there will still be additions to this roster

and rosters all across college football.

Darrell, I'm going to start off with the pass rush.

I think questions about the pass rush

1:05.1

are going to be a big talking point, I think, throughout spring.

Now, a good thing with this is we've kind of spent offseason since DJ Durkin has been here,

expressing concern about the defensive line.

1:21.1

And it does always seem to work itself out.

1:24.4

But the bodies are typically there.

1:26.7

And there's usually, you know, multiple stacked classes where you're like, okay, you could see how these guys fit in. At edge with the addition of Deshaun Womack from Ole Miss, like, okay, he was kind of a role player for them. He was like their number two, number three edge guy, depending on what part of the season you look at. They're obviously hoping Jared Smith takes that step forward. I think he's going to be your main guy. If he doesn't take that step forward, I think it would be very bad for Roberts' defense as a whole, especially the pass rush. And then I think there's questions about some of the younger guys in the defensive line room. Can they take that step? The bodies are there. The potential is there. There's just a lot of assumptions of,

2:01.7

okay, who can take that step to help generate pressure for Aubur without them having to

2:08.1

blitz a ton in 2026? That's the key because you have concerns about the pass rush, but I think
