Summary

The cold never bothered us anyway, but toxic positivity has. Have you ever poured your heart out to someone and have to fight the urge to punch them when their only response is "Cheer up! Everything happens for reason." That may be because you were hit with some positivity that was toxic, aka invalidating your feelings and real issues. Kristee and Sierra are diving into the discussion of positivity gone wrong, when people with good intentions don't realize they're doing it, and trying to define where the line between "healthy" and "toxic" positivity lies. We've all been there, whether we were on the receiving end or may have been unknowingly perpetuating toxic positivity ourselves, but hopefully this discussion can give some perspective on how we can all be better friends and listeners by avoiding toxic positivity where we can in the future. Cheers!

something that's worth talking about it doesn't always have to be a ha ha happy it can be like a

0:49.5

And that's Christy. That's me. And this topic, you may be wondering, or not wondering, since you already

0:55.3

clicked on it and read the title, we were talking about toxic positivity, which I feel like has

1:00.5

come up here and there woven into our episodes, like we've mentioned it and referenced it.

1:06.4

But we really wanted to dive deep on the topic, especially in this past year of so many things

1:13.4

going wrong.

1:14.8

And just like the truth of how positivity isn't always the answer and how sometimes it can

1:20.8

backfire and doesn't always make everything better to pretend it's okay when it's not.

1:25.9

So we have many things to talk about. There's so many

1:28.2

different perspectives. I kind of think that even me and Sierra might have some different thoughts

1:33.1

on this too. So I'm very eager to get into this discussion, this conversation. I think it's

1:38.6

definitely good to have varying perspectives. And I agree. I think there's some things we'll agree on

1:43.3

and disagree on and

1:44.2

that's that's what makes this fun is our varied perspectives our bi-coastal brains are multi
