Welcome back to Cafferoo Cast. Today I've got Dennis Harper on the mic with me. He's the president of Compton traditional bowhunters.

What's up, man? Not much, buddy. How are you this morning? I'm good. I'm good. I, um, good. I tell you, I be a new to the traditional archery side of things.

Um, you know, Compton was one of the first that kind of pops up that I see on social media things like that. And I don't know how long's Compton's been in in the works. How long have you guys been around?

20 years. Last year last year was actually our 20th anniversary. We, uh, we started this whole thing. Um, there was 12 of us met for breakfast at Pope Young Club, uh,

thank put up an Omaha in 1999. We've been talking about it for a few years and, uh, you know, Glen St. Charles written that article. It's time.

And, um, you know, time to have a national traditional bowhain organization. And finally, there was a dozen of us there for breakfast. And it's like, you know what?

Mark clinky kind of ran the little breakfast meetings and you know what time. All the guys that want to be charter members.

$100 in the middle of the table. Let's get something started. We didn't have a name. We didn't have anything at that point, but, uh, we all threw $100 in the middle table and got things rolling.

So, but 1999. Yeah. You guys have an annual shoot that is it's the largest traditional archery shoot in it from when I understand.

It's it's right up there. Man, I've been to ours and E tar are very similar in size. I think the Eastern traditional on the food, but what I tell you what for just a good time.

I don't know if there is one better, you know, um, we'll have depends on the day over the weekend or whatever in the year, but we always it's hard to keep track exactly how many people are there.

Because the local club does a lot of money collecting and things like that. And you know, we get a get a small portion of what they charge to guys to shoot the weekend.

You know, they charge one price and they come in the shoot. The whole week and they got four ranges. But we always figure there's between two and 3000 people there at any given time with all families.

Of course, no one 1600 is charged. So we've got a path of young people there. And it's absolutely fantastic.

That rendezvous. If you if you want to just see a little snippet of it, there's a there's a video we had a guy shoot a few years ago.

So it's a little over, but he flew a drone over it. I think he did it on Friday when the camp went about half full. So it looks like there's nobody there to me, but they're still a pretty good crowd there. And he flew a drone through the vendor tent.

We'll have we have a lot of folks there several thousand, you know, give or take four archery ranges campground.

We've got a 60 by 200 foot circus tent with vendors in it. And a big field with outdoor vendors in it to just this kind of like a kid in the candy store, you know, you've got everything you want to do right there.

The cool thing about that rendezvous is the local club, the very kind sportsman's club up there that hosted. They've got this beautiful piece of property right on the.

Just think to river right there in Michigan and they've got four archery ranges. They've got a snack bar, the local club pitches breakfast every morning. So you can go up there camp out for the week and not have to cook any food.

Just go and enjoy yourself, you know, and it's pretty cheap entertainment.
