how this is going to go. Get it wrong, We actually face what I would consider to be permanent destruction,

meaning we won't really ever build back to this level of prosperity that we currently enjoy.

There are people out there in charge who don't get it and they're dangerous ideologues.

It's a lot packed under that, including the obvious asterisk subcota that maybe we're not

leaving behind a world that's worth inheriting. In fact, maybe we're leaving behind a depleted

future, a depleted world. In fact, you'd have to have your eyes closed not to understand that what we're doing to the earth today is not making it better, that we're actually in a bad state right now.

Okay, I look at this in three separate ways, so let's talk about it. First up, we're just completely unsustainable in all sorts of dimensions. So this is just one economic dimension. It's around debt. There's a whole

story I have to tell about debt because debt, if you understand it the right way, it's actually a

claim on future money. So when you see this kind of a chart, this is total credit market debt in the

United States. That doesn't include unfunded liabilities. That's not

Social Security. It's not Medicare, Medicaid, underfunded pensions, any of that. Just debt,

state debt, local debt, household debt, corporate debt, all of the forms of debt. This is total
