This is a topic I've wanted to cover for a while now since I caught myself doing it for so long. Whether you're comparing your body to how it has been in the past, or your situation, I urge you to stop. I made this mistake of living in the past and idolizing this version of myself that was no longer. It was exhausting, unhealthy + hindering me from living in and enjoying the moment. I explain how we should be working on our present and future self being the happiest, healthiest, strongest, etc. Hope this can help some of you that may feel this same way! 0:00.0 | Hey everyone and welcome to this week's episode of Happy Hour. It's me Gretchen as normal. |
0:07.3 | It's usually just me. I love what I do have guests on though. Hopefully more to come soon. |
0:12.7 | That would be fun. But today we have some serious business to take care of. I can't believe I'm |
0:19.6 | finally crossing this one off my list, you guys. Comparing yourself to an old version of ourselves. |
0:30.4 | Let me say that again. If you are comparing yourself to an older version of yourself, quit it. |
0:36.2 | Okay, this is going to be an episode where I literally just yell at you. No, I'm getting. But |
0:42.6 | man, you guys, I have thought about this one for so long. I think this actually goes hand in hand, |
0:48.4 | goes quite nicely with, I think it was my second episode ever. My body image and overcoming |
0:56.4 | just sort of unhealthy habits. I forget how I titled it. With eating, eating problems, |
1:03.0 | stuff like that. That's way back in my podcast little list. If you guys haven't listened to that one, |
1:11.4 | I would definitely give that one a listen because I go through my history and just throughout my |
1:18.6 | life, I guess, with my body image and my perspective of myself and how I look and how I'm doing and |
1:24.8 | how I'm feeling. Yeah, just my relationship with food sort of thing. You see the whole background |
1:31.0 | and I feel like I can see why I am the way I am today. I'll touch on it a little bit. But I think |
1:36.0 | that could be really good to listen to if you guys haven't already. This is going to be |
1:41.8 | kind of specifically in that realm of things instead of just comparison in general, comparing yourself |
1:47.9 | to an old version of yourself. Let me just say in the first two minutes here that |
1:53.7 | first and foremost, if you're in your 20s, your 30s, whatever it is, I don't care. And you're |
1:59.2 | comparing yourself to your high school self. Seriously, stop. It took me so long to realize this |
2:07.8 | in high school. You're a teenager that's literally growing and developing. You're not even |
2:12.4 | your fully grown adult human self yet. And I mean, for the most part, I would generally assume |
2:19.5 | that you're not going to be your full grown self. I guess some people finish growing really. |
