revisiting Mr. Sadarthwaite and Mr. Quinn. It is time for another mysterious Mr. Quintail.

These are always such a delight.

Catherine Brobeck, what are we discussing today?

We are discussing the world's end.

It was first published in the US in November

1926 in Flynn's Weekly under the title World's End. Then in the UK in a

storyteller magazine in February of 1927 and then collected in of course

the mysterious Mr. Quinn in April of 1930 and then later in 1930 it came out in the US in the same collection.

And the storyteller was part of that, The Magic of Mr. Quinn.

I love that heading for these because these stories really are quite magical, not only mysterious but magical too.

All right let's get right down to things and talk about our victim.

At the risk of spoiling some things it appears that the victim is young love and in particular two

young lovers and the love that they shared these young lovers are Alec Gerard, a very talented young

rising playwright in London who has apparently stolen a highly valuable

opal and is now in prison. And his lady love.

Naomi Carlton Smith, who is a very talented young painter,

who was basically betrothed to Gerard,

and who is now morosely hiding out on Corsica by herself.

Me thinks we have another love thwarted tale here and I wonder if by stories end Mr Quinn is going to have brought these two lovers back together again.

Hmm, intriguing.
