I used to go out dancing every Thursday night.

This was decades ago.

I must have been about 20 at the time.

My friends and I would drive out to this club in West

Hollywood that was all 60s soul music and Britpop, this music that was big in the UK

at the time. There was a whole scene full of people who were trying to escape, people who

were pretending to be somewhere else or someone else. Some guys wore mod suits and parkas on the dance floor, even though it was 80 degrees outside.
