One day in 167 BC, a salukid representative went to a small country town named Modieen about 15 odd miles, 23 kilometers northwest of Jerusalem.

That says the crow flies.

This area of the hill country, it's up and down and switchbacks.

It's probably a good day's ride away from Jerusalem.

The Salukid representative was there to make sure the people did their required sacrifices to the Greek gods.

The Salucid rep wanted the local country priest, a leader named Matathias, to do the first sacrifice. Matathias refused. Another person steppedias to do the first sacrifice.

Modathias refused.

Another person stepped up to do the sacrifices,

but then faked out, took the Salucid the life and times of Galilean Jesus of Nazareth,

as well as the faith, religion, and church founded to honor and disseminate his acts and teachings.
