I really admire you, man. I admire how you have carried the flag for a Negro League Baseball.

2022 marks an important anniversary for black baseball.

As 75 years ago, Jackie Robinson took that historic walk on the moon for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

We'll take an in-depth look at the forces that created baseball segregation and the brave men that fought to tear those barriers down.

Here we are real good baseball players, but still we couldn't play in a major league.

Oh, that was very frustrating to us.

This is really the story of America, because the integration of baseball came almost a decade before Brown versus Board of

Education and Rosa Parks and all that. And it was the most important story about race in pretty

much the decade after World War II. And as we always say, with segregation came a sense of self

and ownership within black America.

We created a brand of baseball we could call our own.

And let me tell you, it was like nothing you've ever seen before.

The clubhouse boys that say, come on out here, Dad.

And they'd show me where a ball was hit.

And they said, Josh Gibson hit that last Sunday. And it was a ton. The true stories of the Negro Leagues are better than any fiction. You could not make this stuff up. He said, no, bring him on in, Nancy. I brought him in and brought him in. You know, the age of the NFL, see, brought him in. He said, no, Nancy, bring them all the way in.
