He may not be the most famous of the three surviving tragedies from classical Greece, but that only makes

syrupities more intriguing today. From the way he portrayed the complexity of women, foreigners, and even

enslaved people of the ancient world, to the unique way many of his plays survived and what that can tell us about them to a newly discovered

fragment that only serves to remind us 2,500 years after his death that Eurypides was one weird and interesting guy.

So throughout September and maybe beyond because let's be honest I can talk about Eurypides and his

characters for eternity and not run out of things to say,
