Hey everybody, this is Rob Leifeld. You are listening to another episode of Robeservations

where I just kind of tell you about my history with comics, both as a fan, as a professional,

uh, going back, oh my gosh, you know, it's, it know, it's looking more like 46 years now.

I have a love affair with comic books. I think most of us do. Most of us who really started

pulling these books off spinner racks at our local markets. I pine longingly for my markets of the past. And I think now it's up to a twice

yearly sojourn I make over to the epic four corners that I, maybe this is the hundredth time

I've brought them up on Broadway and Magnolia, the 7-Eleven, the liquor store, the grocery store,

the three corners of the crosswalk, the intersection that had all the comics from my youth.

And as I've said over and over again, I'll never be that kid who doesn't remember

hiding comics in my peachy folder.

Peachy folder was a yellow folder with some sports illustrations on it in the 80s or in the side pockets of a notebook. I didn't

really want people to know my obsession with comics because they were seen as childish and I didn't

want to be judged. Like so many of us don't want to be judged, right?

But it was always my intention to become somebody who would make comics. And, you know, the good Lord knew that is what I tell people, if you ever come to see me at a show, at a panel, I tell people, like, I wasn't equipped to be a doctor or a lawyer.

Studying was completely, if not absolutely alien

to me, it was very difficult. But man, did I doodle? Man, could I doodle? And I drew and drew and

and thank God for art classes where you could make your own curriculum and thankfully my last two years I was able

to just tell my teacher who really thought I was not servicing my talent in the right way.

I told him I was going to do comic books.

He thought there was no future in comic books and it was funny.

I was flying home from one of our vacations that we were

fortunate enough to go on with our family and just kind of have one last hurrah before everybody
